The Medaka Inbred Kiyosu-Karlsruhe panel comprises 80 near-isogenic lines bred from a wild population. It is the first vertebrate inbred panel to retain natural genetic variation, allowing the same genome to be studied repeatedly.

Our contribution to the functional annotation of the zebrafish non-coding genome, which opened its regulatory landscape to systematic study.

Light-entrained clocks and their evolution in cavefish, hormone and stress signalling read out in living fish, and the cellular responses triggered by chemicals and nanomaterials.

We showed that the relative toxicity of 72 chemicals ranks much as it does in rodents when measured in zebrafish embryos, nematodes and flies. This is evidence that non-mammalian models can carry weight in chemical risk assessment.

One of the two zebrafish stock centres worldwide. The EZRC archives and distributes mutant and transgenic lines, so that a line generated once needs never be generated again.
